Manufacturing Helpers - 1st Shift

We are currently hiring for 1st shift Manufacturing Helpers in our Ventura, CA location. This is our entry-level shop position and would be a great opportunity for mechanically-inclined individuals who are interested in a career in manufacturing. These are Union, hourly-non-exempt positions that are paid weekly. The general duties, responsibilities and qualifications are as follows:


Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and repetitive activities on equipment and machinery,
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and machines such as cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating,
  • Work in one or more areas as deemed necessary by your Supervisor,
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area,
  • Ensure that only high quality products are processed through the department(s) you work in,
  • Ensure proper paperwork accompanies all parts you work on,
  • Identify and separate non-conforming parts, scrap parts, and acceptable parts, and note such on related paperwork,
  • Inform you Leadperson or Supervisor of material-, process-, or equipment-related problems,
  • Follow production schedule and work in a timely and efficient manner,
  • Follow all work and safety policies,
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality,
  • Cooperate with supervision and co-workers.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must. You must have the ability to set up and operate various pieces of shop equipment and machinery,
  • You must have good hand-to-eye dexterity,
  • You must be physically able to work prolonged hours with heavy material (lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds),
  • You must be able to work in a loud, dirty environment and not be overly sensitive to safe levels of airborne chemical fumes,
  • If working in one of our clean rooms, you must be able to work in an enclosed temperature-controlled space with other people, while wearing head-to-toe, light-weight suits,
  • You must be able to work overtime as required,
  • Due to Safety and routing paperwork that accompanies our products around the manufacturing floor, you must have a good understanding of the English language and be able to read, write, speak it.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Quality Control Inspector (Entry-Level, 2nd Shift)

Valex is currently looking for a Quality Inspector to join our Quality Department on 2nd Shift. Valex is a  producer of high-quality, high-purity products, and your role will be to inspect our products for material defects and grade of workmanship using visual, mechanical, dimensional, and functional inspection techniques. Inspections occur throughout our process, from raw material to final inspection of finished goods.


The successful candidate will have familiarity with all of the above referenced inspection techniques and the tools and instruments associated with each. Some of those tools include calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. We also work from drawings, so experience working off of drawings is a plus. You must be experienced working with computers, and you must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Some of our material is heavy and/or awkward to work with, so you must also be physically able to lift, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

This is a Union, hourly/non-exempt position that has room for growth for the right candidate.

Buyer-Planner

Valex Corp is searching for a lower-level Buyer-Planner to join our Planning Department. You will use ERP software to plan and schedule distributed products, to conduct daily reviews of sales and distribution requirements, and to enter and maintain ERP planning data. You will manage the purchasing cycle of key items and will maintain stock levels accordingly. You will also coordinate with the Sales Department to provide on-time delivery of Sales Orders.


The successful candidate will have at least two years of production planning experience in a distributed products environment, three years of experience using ERP software, effective verbal and written communication skills (in English), good computer knowledge (including MS Excel and MS Word), and a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Engineering Planner/Estimator

The Valex Engineering Team is looking for a capable Engineering Planner / Estimator to join its growing team. In this position, you will use our ERP software to set up bills of materials (BOM) and workshop routers for Valex products. You will estimate costs for new products and special request products, as well as maintain the BOM/router database for existing products, and mark-up/create drawings in CAD software. You will also assist in tasks involving new product development or sustaining engineering of existing products.


The successful candidate will be able to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID). You will also be computer proficient with a good working knowledge of MS Office & Windows, and you will have very good written and verbal communication skills. If you know Mandarin Chinese or Korean, then that is a big plus.

The minimum and preferred qualifications include the following: ERP software experience highly preferred, CAD software proficient (Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc), Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or some other related discipline (or at least close to completion), and 1-3 years experience working in a technical field.

Materials & Production Planning Manager

Valex is looking for an experienced Manager of Materials and Production Planning to join it's team. The successful candidate will have worked in a repetitive manufacturing environment managing materials and production planning, as well as have experience in the logistics of importing and exporting raw material and finished goods internationally.


Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing a team of Buyer/Planners and warehouse staff,
  • Providing direction, motivation, and training for your staff as necessary,
  • Recommending solutions for quality defects and overall process improvement opportunities,
  • Production and Inventory Control documentation, cost, and status reporting,
  • Administrative activities related to Purchasing, Production & Inventory Control, and Warehousing,
  • Participation on the company's safety program to help ensure a safe working environment for all workers.
Qualifications for the position include:
  • Must have a college degree, preferably in a related field,
  • 5+ years experience working in a manufacturing company performing purchasing, planning, and warehousing activities,
  • 5+ years experience using and automated ERP system,
  • Computer literate in MS Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Quality Technician (Non-Union)

The Valex Quality Department is looking for a Quality Technician to join its team. The Technician will be responsible for lab sample preparation, SEM/EDX, laser microscopy, root cause investigation, troubleshooting lab equipment, data entry, assisting with document control, calibration and weld testing, and will perform back-up duties for the Quality Engineer as needed.


We would be interested in someone that already has the qualifications necessary to perform the above duties, but we are also willing to groom the right candidate (internal or external). A lesser experienced, candidate will need to have good math skills (must understand at least basic algebra and geometry), computer literacy, knowledge of quality inspection equipment, and above all a willingness to learn new skills. We would prefer that the successful candidate have a AA degree in Math, Science, or Engineering, but if they do not, we would encourage them to utilize our tuition reimbursement program to achieve that level of education or higher (preferably) while on the job. You must have your high school diploma and you will be required to pass an in-house aptitude test. If you have letters of recommendation, please submit those with your resume.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Valex Corp is looking for an EHS Manager to manage our safety and environmental programs for our foreign and domestic operations. Some responsibilities include vendor selection for waste removal, development and maintenance of written safety and environmental programs, employee training on those programs and a multitude of other safety topics, hazard communication, workers' compensation claims, accident investigations, reporting, etc. You will also work with multiple departments to improve manufacturing work center operations in an effort to minimize work injuries. You will travel to our facilities in China and Korea occasionally, and there may be some other travel as well. Currently, there is one direct report to this position, plus you'll have the support of our knowledgeable management team at Valex and our parent company's Safety department.


You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Occupational Health & Safety or a complimentary major such as Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, etc. You must have 5+ years of experience managing environmental and safety programs at a manufacturing company, and you must be able to travel domestically and internationally when needed. You must have great verbal and written communication skills, and be computer literate in MS Office. Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese or Korean is a plus. Preferred professional certifications include: CSP, CIH, CSHM, OSHA 30-hour, QEP, REM, and CHMM.
