Manufacturing Helpers - 1st Shift

We are currently hiring for 1st shift Manufacturing Helpers in our Ventura, CA location. This is our entry-level shop position and would be a great opportunity for mechanically-inclined individuals who are interested in a career in manufacturing. These are Union, hourly-non-exempt positions that are paid weekly. The general duties, responsibilities and qualifications are as follows:


Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and repetitive activities on equipment and machinery,
  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment and machines such as cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating,
  • Work in one or more areas as deemed necessary by your Supervisor,
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area,
  • Ensure that only high quality products are processed through the department(s) you work in,
  • Ensure proper paperwork accompanies all parts you work on,
  • Identify and separate non-conforming parts, scrap parts, and acceptable parts, and note such on related paperwork,
  • Inform you Leadperson or Supervisor of material-, process-, or equipment-related problems,
  • Follow production schedule and work in a timely and efficient manner,
  • Follow all work and safety policies,
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality,
  • Cooperate with supervision and co-workers.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must. You must have the ability to set up and operate various pieces of shop equipment and machinery,
  • You must have good hand-to-eye dexterity,
  • You must be physically able to work prolonged hours with heavy material (lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds),
  • You must be able to work in a loud, dirty environment and not be overly sensitive to safe levels of airborne chemical fumes,
  • If working in one of our clean rooms, you must be able to work in an enclosed temperature-controlled space with other people, while wearing head-to-toe, light-weight suits,
  • You must be able to work overtime as required,
  • Due to Safety and routing paperwork that accompanies our products around the manufacturing floor, you must have a good understanding of the English language and be able to read, write, speak it.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Quality Control Inspector (Entry-Level, 2nd Shift)

Valex is currently looking for a Quality Inspector to join our Quality Department on 2nd Shift. Valex is a  producer of high-quality, high-purity products, and your role will be to inspect our products for material defects and grade of workmanship using visual, mechanical, dimensional, and functional inspection techniques. Inspections occur throughout our process, from raw material to final inspection of finished goods.


The successful candidate will have familiarity with all of the above referenced inspection techniques and the tools and instruments associated with each. Some of those tools include calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. We also work from drawings, so experience working off of drawings is a plus. You must be experienced working with computers, and you must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Some of our material is heavy and/or awkward to work with, so you must also be physically able to lift, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

This is a Union, hourly/non-exempt position that has room for growth for the right candidate.

Process Improvement (Lean) Specialist

Valex is looking for a Process Improvement (Lean) Specialist to join our Quality / Operational Excellence Department. You will be responsible for executing lean process improvement initiatives that will impact Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery. Through your expertise, you will provide training and direction for improvement activities to support our business goals and objectives. You will work closely with management and others to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective operational/business solutions for all aspects or our manufacturing operation. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Valex operates under Operational Excellence (OPEX) guidelines as defined by management,
  • Employ Lean Manufacturing techniques and champion the continuous improvement (CI) culture,
  • Run the CI program, and execute improvement projects identified by management,
  • Assist in identifying facility gaps and forming strategic plans to address such,
  • Train and lead employees on problem solving skills and promote the use of problem-solving tools within the plant functional areas and become a subject matter expert,
  • Participate in GEMBA walks and drive CI culture across the operation,
  • Establish standardized work and audit schedule for sustainability,
  • Analyze and develop reports relating to OPEX status and future plans showing goals and vision,
  • Analyze data and/or reports to find opportunities within KPI reporting structure,
  • Facilitate small group meetings to brainstorm, gather information, or solidify action plans which support ongoing CI activities,
  • Embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds and practice census leadership when possible,
  • Communicate Lean CI vision to plant/functional leaders and implement Lean CI strategy a the plant/functional level,
  • Collaborate with our International operations on CI efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in applicable field,
  • Six Sigma Green Belt from ASQ or Villanova preferred,
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence.

Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic

Valex Corp is hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic to work in our manufacturing facility. You will perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, cranes, hoists, and conveyors. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. In addition, you will also perform facility repairs involving plumbing, drywall, floor repair, etc.


The successful candidate must meet or exceed the following qualifications: 4-8 years of directly related work experience in a high paced manufacturing environment; must have own tools and tool chest; must be able to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, prints, drawings, and manuals; and must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively.

This is a Union position that is hourly-non-exempt and is paid weekly.

Warehouse Worker

Valex is looking for a warehouse worker with 1-3 years experience to join our warehouse team. You will support shipping, receiving, production supplies, and production control to varying degrees and at the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor. You will use our automated ERP system to issue, receive, cycle count, and package inventory items, and you will transact receipts and issues of inventory items.


You must be familiar with ERP software systems (or be able to learn quickly), have experience with RF scanners, and have experience cycle counting inventory in a repetitive manufacturing environment. You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., have a valid CA driver's license, and be able to read, write, and speak English.

Equipment Painter

Valex Corp is in need of an experienced equipment painter for a long-term temporary assignment (6+ months with the possibility of hire). You will prepare industrial equipment surfaces by removing old paint, dirt, oils, etc, and then you will prime and paint to a good-quality finish.


You must be able to read, write, and speak English, and you must have at least 3 years experience painting industrial equipment.

Human Resources Associate

The Human Resources Dept at Valex Corp is currently hiring for a Human Resources Associate. Your primary job responsibilities will include recruiting, onboarding, data entry, and filing. The right candidate will also be cross-trained in payroll and will be involved in other department projects.


The successful candidate will have an interest in HR, some familiarity with employment laws, a minimum of a high school diploma and preferably some college. You must have great written and verbal communication skills and you must be able to multi-task. Good attendance and punctuality is important in this role, as is maintaining a professional attitude in all of your interactions with employees and candidates.
